Working with Metal

Look out! Like I didn't have enough going on with my glass, now I'm trying to combine glass with metalwork! I feel like it's taking it to another level and so far I'm really enjoying it!

I'm taking a class at the Sawtooth Center in Winston-Salem with Brittany Sondberg. Right now I'm just working with brass, nickel and copper until I get the hang of it and then I'll get into silver.
I'm etching some nickel and copper to use in my upcoming class...This is the acid bath I'm soaking the metal in:

And the results on nickel:

 And on copper:

thinking about ways to combine it with glass:

and a copper and brass ring I'm working on...that's a silver prong that will hold a piece of glass...after I add three more prongs, of course

it looks pretty rough right now, but I'll post later after I get it all cleaned up!

Ooooooo, very cool. I have always loved the way acid etching looks. Soft and yet permanent. The ring looks like a great idea.

So cool, it turns out almost like the commercially sold ring.
